While the Wraiths are the reigning ISFL champions, and have six consecutive Ultimus appearances, the expectations for this season’s team were tempered a bit for this season due to some turnover. Primarily, the retirement of the Wraith’s QB legendary Cooter Bigsby. While rookie QB Colby Jack has been putting in a phenomenal effort, some bumps in the road are to be expected when replacing an established veteran superstar. The Wraiths are also fielding several new wide receivers, a rookie tight end, and a couple of rookie safeties. I’m obviously biased, but I think they can and will all be contributors to the team’s long term success. Thus far, the Wraith’s are (at this writing) 3-2. While obviously every team wants to win every game, the team’s record could be much worse. While not spectacular, both of the Wraith’s losses were by a score or less and to teams that are kicking ass and taking names I don’t think the Wraiths expected this season to be a walk in the park. They are simply experiencing the growing pains that naturally occur when fresh faces are added to a veteran locker room. There is plenty of time for the new guys to step up. Will the Wraith’s repeat as season 24’s Ultimus champions? Don’t count us out!
