I wrote some power rankings recently in which I listed the Orange County Otters as the second best team in the league, and I believe that to be true. Orange County have had a rough start, sitting at 2-3 after 5 games, but that's a combination of unfortunate scheduling (6 road games in the first 9 weeks - really?) and good, old-fashioned "sim-gonna-sim" bad luck.
The Otters are stacked with offensive talent, with an insanely strong defensive line and secondary, and a smart head office. They could easily turn that 0-2 start into an Ultimus win. Their single point loss to the Copperheads in Week 3 was both uncharacteristic of them and unlucky in the way they stalled offensively, but that point was the difference between a losing record and a winning one.
Their stock (prior to this week) was as low as I expect it to go this season. Road games at Colorado and Sarasota are on the horizon, but I don't expect the market to punish their price too harshly for losing road games against good teams. After week 9, 5 of their last 7 games are at home, and from that point we will see a large market correction towards their true value.
At risk of sounding like I'm turning this PT into my own pump-and-dump stock service, I personally believe that market correction will start now. Buy now*, thank me when the playoffs start.
*Or, even better, after their next game on the road at Colorado.
