Haha Mango-Panda, my good linebacker buddy, is in great position to take over the awards ceremony this year. In the offseason, the position I held my first couple years in Sarasota was given to Panda, and in return I took over his. The results so far have been incredible. Not only does Sarasota boast the best overall defense in the league (based on points conceded), but Panda is clearly the front runner for awards like linebacker of the year and potentially even defensive player of the year. Panda has been performing at an exceptional level thus far, and has accrued 60 tackles, 7 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 9 passes defended. No other player with more than 60 tackles has more than 2 sacks, and Panda currently ranks first in the league for passes defended. Last year's defensive player of the year won with 118 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 15 sacks, 3 interceptions, 1 defensive touchdown, 12 passes defended, and 1 safety. Panda is on track to beat the tackles, have 14 sacks, 4 interceptions, and 18 passes defended, a much better stat line than last year's winner. Compile his individual success with the fact that Sarasota currently has the best record in the league at 7-1, and we have a clear frontrunner for DPoTY. Hell, if he keeps this up and Sarasota finds themselves with substantial postseason success, he might even be in the running to win the MVP award. HahaVP inbound.
