Question: Is Mai Fukushuu in the running for Offensive Rookie of the Year? Short answer: No. Long answer is obviously more complicated because it’s the longer answer. You see, Fukushuu is a true rookie, which means that she has significantly less TPE than her peers. The thing about the NSFL is that when it comes to the lower ranges of TPE, a small difference in TPE is a lot of difference in ability. Once the player gets up to around 900-ish, that difference becomes minimal. But despite this massive disadvantage, Fukushuu is actually doing pretty well when it comes to offensive rookies. The only “rookie” with more rushing yards is Nicholas Ayers, a player who is a full season ahead of her and almost 100 more TPE than her. She’s over Joseph Petrongolo, who has even more TPE. And even outside of the running back position, Kai Sakura may be having an excellent season, but they also have that massive TPE advantage over Fukushuu. So at the end of the season, will Fukushuu be getting any individual awards? Probably not. She’s not a starter, she’s got fairly average numbers for a backup, and she’s got the stigma of having this asshole behind the keyboard. But does she have an argument? I think so.
