As far as awards go, I thought it would be worth discussing the easy award winning performance of the year that Dermot Lavelle Jr. had Week 8 against the Wraiths. To start, he would have an 83 yard punt return for a touchdown in the 1st quarter. This putting Austin up 14-0 fairly early in the game. With 5 minutes left in the third quarter, Dermot would have an interception to add to his amazing game. This all but putting the game away as Austin began to run up the lead. Not stopping there, Dermot would have another interception only 3 minutes later. This interception was returned for a touchdown, his second of the game! Not too shabby for a defensive player. Throughout the game, Dermot was still adding chaos to the field when not ball hawking. He would tally 4 tackles and break up 2 other passes. If this performance isn’t the best we will see defensively throughout the season, it is going to take quite the game for someone to break it. Many in Austin’s locker room had been demanding Dermot to be traded prior to the game however he would silence all of his doubters with this amazing performance. All of the fans lucky enough to be there will truly never forget it and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see this being another award to his great season.
