Undoubtedly and with zero reservations, Yellowknife’s own Mathias Hanyadi is the indisbutable Running Back of the Year. Even though he has to split his workload with the very talented and handsome Acura Skyline, Hanyadi is still putting up dominant and historic numbers (somewhat helped by a rookie Quarter Back which is a situation necessitating more production out of the run game). Hanyadi has won the award a number of times in the past, and another trophy on his shelf will help cement his case for the Hall of Fame. On a moderately mind boggling 211 attempts across 10 games, Hanyadi has 960 yards, closing in on busting the 1000 yard barrier on his next game, and with 1500 yards on the season as a feasible possibility. Additionally, Hanyadi is averaging a tough to beat 4.5 yards per carry. The only hole in Hanyadi’s season resume is only 5 touchdowns, but again sharing the backfield with Acura Skyline has had some downsides. Skyline has 6 touchdowns and is more frequently used in short yardage red zone situations. The next closest running back to Hanyadi is Toriki who, though more efficient at 4.9 yards per carry, only has 757 yards and 3 touchdowns. Hanyadi clearly beats her. Torenson is another contender with 750 yards, but his paltry 3.9 yards per carry and again only 3 touchdowns really limits his chances. Hanyadi is all but guaranteed this award.
