Marcella Toriki's career has been a good one, and that fundamentally began with a strong start. She played college ball at the University of Oregon. Her crew there helped push her to be the best that she could be, and capitalized on an existing strong work ethic. That strong start gave her the confidence she needed to push to join the ISFL. Her start in the DSFL was good enough, grinding out a high yardage over her season with the Norfolk Seawolves. But the transition from the DSFL to the ISFL proper proved challenging. Her initial season had a slow start, and she felt that her talents just weren't converting to the next level. It was mid-season when she got a visit from her crew of friends from her Oregon days on a game weekend that things turned around. Her friends reminded her of that drive to be the best, and she felt renewed. She was able to take that weekend of reminiscing and turn it into a stronger second half. That season she went on to win rookie of the year, so you can definitely say that it worked. she's had a strong career since then, which moments of struggle but overall a consistent contributor to her teams.
