Clearly one of the most recent dramas in the NSFL was the Matt James holdout and how it turned into a media disaster for both him and the Philadelphia Liberty.
Matt James hired agent Jay Z and Roc Nation Sports. His Agent went on to trash talk the Liberty Organization claiming his rookie player who had never taken a single professional snap was worth more than the money than they were offering. He claimed that the Liberty front offices were rude and unwilling to work a fair deal and they quickly ended negotiations with the Liberty and a media firestorm swirled around the player, his agent and his former team.
In response to Matt James and his celebrity hip-hop agent, GM of the Liberty released all the recorded conversations the team had with Matt James. The conversations seemed to show that the player took some words out of context and felt insulted by the organization, but it really seemed like no matter what the Liberty GM did to try and fix the solution, it was James who ultimately did not want to play for the expansion franchise. @[@adam2552] went on to say that if the player had said outright in the pre-draft interview that he did not wish to play for the Liberty, they simply would not have drafted him, but since no such inclination had been given, they saw Matt James as a talent they would want to invest in for their future.
After all the dust settled, Matt James ended up in the frozen north playing for the Yellowknife Wraiths and was happy and the Liberty seem to have a happy locker room without an upstart like James in there stirring the pot.
