Colorado's first week of rookie OTA's was exciting both for second year players returning and for the rookies. Someone I want to focus on is rookie wideout Jon Ross. Looking a little sluggish coming into Colorado, he has used the elevation to intensify his workout regimen and he is now looking much sharper and faster coming in and out of his breaks.
One route he has been working on is the slant with teammates Kendrick Hendrix and DJ Law, two very quick wide outs who spent S1 in a fast-paced west-coast style scheme with a lot of quick dump offs and screen passes. They both know a thing or two about creating space near the line of scrimmage and finding enough separation to gain positive yards.
Jon Ross is one of the most promising young wideouts in the NSFL and fits perfectly in this WR room. Whether lining up on the outside, or the slot... he is interchangeable as are the other wideouts, which gives the Yeti a lot of versatility in the passing game heading into S2. With Hendrix and Law periodically struggling to get a grip and suffering excruciating drops in their rookie seasons, a sure-handed possession receiver who can also take the top off a defense will be a great ingredient. My favorite thing about this kid is his intelligence right now, though. His football IQ is very high for a rookie, something he can use to teach Hendrix and Law a thing or two.
