So lets talk about Dotts. The trading card system is an interesting way to introduce ways that people can spend money without getting an on-the-field-advantage. That's the biggest problem with the balance for money in the game. If it swings too far in one way or the other, either contracts are highly de-valued or media is highly de-valued. The solution is then to introduce ways people can spend money that won't impact their player, and that's hard. Dotts are an interesting way to address this, but I think there's more that can be done. The ISFL (and DSFL) have rich histories that Dotts can exploit. Everyone knows the important players of the S22 class, but what about the Ultimus champs from S4? What about introducing special "Legacy" cards that highlight great champions or performers of the past? Its a good way to make sure the history of the league stays fresh, while being able to introduce cool and interesting cards into the rotation. Yellowknife players would love cards highlighting the impact players from their first Ultimus victory, for example. In a related note, cards based on real people is not a good idea. People are complicated, and their relationship with the league and their peers will be complicated as well. Players are different. They are an avatar, and usually subject to the weird randomness of the sim. So if you get a card you're disappointed with, its probably because you're unfamiliar with the player or the player just didn't have that great of a career. Feeling disappointed that you pulled a real person from the community is a different experience, and I think will result in hurt feelings. There's more than enough players and teams from the league's history to highlight without going there.
