(S2) - Weekend PT #2 - Rookies first practice

There are whispers on the sidelines. They're understandable. CBC North is the only full-time media establishment in the Northwest Territories, and they don't have a permanent bureau in Yellowknife, so sportswriters have had to come up from Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary to write about Canada's hottest team, the Yellowknife Wraiths.

"That's Matt James, eh?" one reporter asks "didn't he hold out from Philadelphia? What did they trade to get him?"

"Yeah" says another "Jazzie J and a 4th. He signed here cheap though, only on 500,000 for 3 years."

"Think it was worth it?" "Oh ya. We'll see a lot out of him this year, he's thrown himself into activity and that'll pay off in the gym and on the field"

"But what about the character concerns? He's really been stirring the pot with the old management. Think he'll fit in here?"

"Well we said that last year about Jogn and Mat - if they're fighting all the time, how are they going to find the time to work together on the field, eh. We asked questions about Jogn and Ricky when they signed those front-loaded contracts, about if they were just going to be trade chips if they refused to play season 2"

Suddenly, a misthrown football interrupts the conversation, nailing one journalist in the shoulder and boucing into their other's face. The second throws it back, and both immediately apologize for being in the way.

"Guess we'll have to see, eh"
