13) This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S24 class and later. In 400 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented?
I created for the first time as part of the S25 ISFL class, right before the S24 DSFL draft. Coming over from the SHL, I did not have a lot of expectations towards the league because I do not know a lot about football and I am not that big of a fan either : I normally only watch the Superbowl, maybe the odd Canadian Football League game.
I also did not have a lot of expectations towards myself. That’s why I created as an offensive liner. I don’t understand much about football, but I understand enough to know what they do: protect the star players against the opposing team. I also could see that it’s a position where there is a lot of need for human players instead of bots.
The people in the OL Club were very welcoming. Even before the being drafted to a team, I could sense a strong support from users with more experience. They explained to me how best to build my player to be as efficient as possible and were also of very good advice when drafting for fantasy. I wouldn’t have gotten far without the help I got from those guys.
I can’t say I felt very excited when the draft came. I had created only a week before and didn’t post much, so I believe flew under a lot of radars. Only one team scouted me in a very short interview. I was even a bit worried I wouldn’t be drafted. But the Pythons took me in and so I started my career with them.
I wasn’t very active throughout that whole first season. Not that I planned to be much anyways. I didn’t hang around in the locker room much. I did my thing on the site and a few tweets here and there. I do like the way the ISFL handles Twitter a lot. It’s more rewarding and easier to claim than the SHL way. But it started to change when we got new GMs. Southpaw has made sure I was staying into it, messaging me once or twice a week to check on me. That slowly convinced me to check the LR server a bit more often and try to participate more. My fellow OL zEagle1, or Chuck Roth, starting to like some of my tweets also helped make it feel like I wasn’t doing it only for money or TPE.
We made the playoffs too, so I was there to watch our game. Sadly, we lost, but I’m confident we can come back strong next season. I’m a bit more excited for the ISFL draft too, a few more teams scouted me this time around and I do have a slight preference for one of them (also I won’t complain if I go elsewhere).
