The practice fields were freshly mowed and painted. The Orange County Otters lawn crew is one of the best in the business. Waterboys toiled away bringing the water and gatorade out to the field in preparation for the teams first practice of the second season in the National Simulation Football League.
Ian Bavitz, as has been his habit thus far, was among the first in the locker room and out on the field ready for practice. Season One ended abruptly for the Otters, a circumstance Bavitz does not intend to allow to happen again.
Orange County prides itself on the performance of their defense. As one of the leaders of the defense, Bavtiz sees it as an opportunity to get some of the defensive rookies up to speed as soon as possible. Bavitz was proud to see Marc Spector, the new rookie CB as one of the first on the field. Bavitz introduced himself and quickly went over some of the stats the Otters defense needs to live up to in order to remain successful. After meeting the rest of the defensive rookies, Bavitz turned his eye to the offense.
The Otters allowed the fewest rushing yards in the league in season one, a feat he intends to replicate for season two. Ardie Savea, the new rookie running back was in for a tough assignment in practice. Bavtiz approached Savea, saying "You're going to be sore, you're going to be bruised, hell, you'll probably be bleeding by the end of this. Get your ass back up and ready to go for the next play, we're grooming you to be great. Iron sharpens iron, you will receive no quarter here. You'll be up against the best rushing defense in the NSFL, take advantage of what you learn here to run rampant on our foes."
The rest of the practice, the Otters defense spent trying to introduce the offensive rookies to the hard-knock ASFC style of defense.
