Coming into training camp, the biggest upgrade for the Otters was their secondary. Safeties Ragnar Kronen and Isaiah McGinn as well as Marc Spector have a lot riding on their shoulders as they are expected to fill out an almost complete Otters defense; and boy did they impress. Kronen has already proven he is a welcome addition to defending the run game, giving the Otters backfield a tough time during the training. McGinn showed why the Otters took him, bringing in two picks during the training, one of which showed off his athleticism as he jumped over the receiver to haul it in. Spector also had a pick during the game, actually returning one to the house for six. This new and improved Otters secondary gave the veteran offense hell, and have been getting along pretty well, often hanging out during and even after practice lets out. Alongside a few other rookies, like star lineman Gregor Clegane, this season two Otters draft class is really something; some are even saying they are in the running for best rookie group, but only time will tell on that one; but here's hoping they have a stellar first official season in Orange County.
