My argument: Arizona is the best team of all time when measured alphabetically.
First, we need to know what ‘alphabetically’ means. According to dictionary.com, ‘alphabetically’ means “in the order of the letters of the alphabet”. Great; a definition that uses its own word in the definition. Wikipedia is somewhat more helpful and defines it as “a system whereby character strings are placed in order based on the position of the characters in the conventional ordering of an alphabet”. In order to move this along, we’ll assume everyone here is familiar with the English alphabet and knows their ABCs.
Since I believe Arizona is first alphabetically, let’s work from bottom to top. The first one is easy. Since there are no Zs, Yellowknife must be last. Unfortunately, it gets harder from there. Next, we’re met with two teams whose cities start with S. Luckily, there are rules for that situation; one simply looks at the second letter. Crisis averted! We can place Sarasota second to last and San Jose third to last. After a couple easy ones with Philadelphia and Orange County, we have to go the fourth letter to put New York behind New Orleans. Let’s save some time and slot Honolulu, Colorado, Chicago, Berlin, and Baltimore next.
At last, we are down to two teams: Arizona and Austin. Let’s take what we learned above and apply it to this situation. Once again, we look at the second letter. This clearly shows Austin in second place, leaving Arizona is first.
In conclusion, Arizona is the best team of all time when measured alphabetically.
