Case for a new SIM engine, or a new way of managing how we use the current one. I will be relying of two main evidence points. Both relating to how speed is used in the SIM.
The first is the "qb speed at 79 bug". This is a incredibly silly bug to have to live with, as it basically destroys one of the qb archetypes, and means that other archetypes have significant advantage.
The second evidential element is how speed is hyper dominant as a trait and how it plays out in the SIM. How many rookies do we all tell, get your speed up first. Evidencing this is the following of average stats (across ALL players including IA). As can be seen speed is a full 10 points clear of any other stat, excluding Endurance.
Stat Average
Str 60.89459085
Agi 63.18030513
Spd 75.20110957
Int 57.16504854
End 70.12343967
Hnd 49.17337032
Tck 42.14147018
These factors basically just amount to a SIM gaming experience that is over dominated by a single stat, presumably because having fast players means that teams play better in the current SIM.
Switching sims MIGHT help. but probably the bigger factor in addressing this is recognising that the SIM values speed more than other stats and then either changing the cost of speed investment to be more expensive when compared to other stats (say 1.5x). OR rebuild the archetypes so that speed is seen as a premium stat, and change what maximums the high speed builds can actually achieve. For example, dramatically lower the maximum hands skill for speedy wide receivers. this would mean that there is more variance around exploiting speed in the SIM, while also valuing other archetypes and player types in the sim. Maybe the possession receiver with has 20 more maximum than the speedy in hands.
