I think quarterback archetypes - in particular, the game manager archetype - need to be tweaked. Maybe the talk of a new sim will materialise and we'll move to Draft Day Sports Pro Football 21 or another, better football game not made by Wolverine. But if we don't, I think that some changes need to be made.

I'm going to focus this PT on my quarterback, the blazing stallion that is Brock Phoenix. Brock Phoenix has 1166 TPE as of his 3/10/20 update, which makes him the second-highest TPE quarterback and the seventh-highest TPE player in the entire league. If you've watched Phoenix or the Liberty over the course of Brock's career, you'll know that he has never played like the second-best quarterback in the league. Not even close. Until Brock Phoenix changed his archetype late last season, Brock Phoenix was a pocket passer. Phoenix was 10th of 12 QBs in passer rating last season, and threw the fewest number of touchdown passes with just 15. In S23 Phoenix was above average, finishing 5th of 12 in passer rating. 7th of 13 in S22, and 10th of 10 in S21. He's also been one of the least accurate quarterbacks, consistently finishing bottom or towards the bottom in completion percentage.

Through four games of S25, Phoenix is lighting it up. Now that he has worse throwing stats and 79 speed, he leads the ISFL in touchdown passes with 9 and is second in passer rating with 89.9, almost ten points higher than any season he's played previously. We all know that the sim is broken, and that the sim is dumb. But the fact that a quarterback becomes vastly better at throwing the ball when you switch to an archetype with worse throwing stats is absurd. Either the other archetypes need to be changed, or game manager needs to be changed. Currently, there's no reason to use an archetype other than game manager unless you'd rather do something different than increase your chances of winning.
