Why London may have to wait until next season to win the Ultimini again
Last season the Royals romped to victory in the Ultimini and this was clearly down to the excellent core of players assembled over two seasons. Domine, Light, Thorbjornsson, Andrews, Elephant, J'vathon, Jones, Ruschmann and Crunk being just some of the key contributors… in total there more than ten players not returning to London to defend the Ultimini. And you’ll have noticed that that’s a lot of first round picks right there.
Now sure, London have been able to keep hold of big name players such as Cortez, Cadaire, Michell, MVP Wadham, Alexander, Yaki and yours truly L’Gazzy Burfict. These are players in some key positions on the field. Having a great QB helps a lot but he’s lost his experienced WRs and may look to the talents of Michell and Yaki to make up progress down the field. Burfict will need to step up and be an example to new partner Sarrasin, without Domine and Light there to rack up the stats he’s the main man now.
I know it’s early doors saying this but there has been another strong draft class picked to head over to the UK. I mentioned Sarrasin but rookies such as DE Lover (who has already hit 200 TPE) and WR Speedman (177 TPE) are going to make great contributions and with a little bit of sim luck on the side of the Royals could have another season to remember. It’s just that last season, the reliance on the sim luck wasn’t there… it was more a case of hoping that the sim recognised the depth of talent and played fair.
