The Grey Ducks have had a tumultuous season to say the least. In the beginning we were one of the teams least affected by call-ups, but that all changed when star RB Jameson Vermillion was called up to play for the Wraiths in the ISFL. Despite this huge blow to our offense, rookie QB Ryan Negs has let his (mostly) efficient playstyle speak for itself, putting up points and forcing teams to compete with a Grey Ducks defense that has been playing consistently well, albeit without eye opening stats.
Unfortunately for the Ducks this season, no team in the NFC has a losing record, making the race to the playoffs even more tightly contested than usual. What's more, with the Royals having a commanding lead at the top spot, the competition has boiled down to one more spot to make it to the playoffs. It is possible that the Ducks can carve their way to the number two spot, but at this point, they certainly do not control their own destiny.
Heading into the offseason, if the Ducks don’t make the playoffs there will likely be a number of quality defenders getting called up next season, so expect them to target defensive players early and often in the upcoming draft.
