Unfortunately, my ISFL team’s (Yellowknife) season is now over, despite a strong finish. However, my glorious Myrtle Beach Buccaneers of neon highlighter fame are looking primed for a deep DSFL playoff run. We could potentially claim HFA all the way through the finals if we win our final week of play coming soon. I’d like to attribute this success to my flawless execution of Kick and Punt Returns, or high TD volume, but that’s not the case.
What lead us to our success is our expected excellence from the QB position with Jackie Daytona. The man has been on a tear week in and week out, being careful with the ball and keeping our defense well rested. Of course, he wouldn’t be able to do that without 2 very special receivers in Crossley and Reed. A surprising development was the rookie RBs Ozymandias and Chungus putting up great numbers for their first year. But that wouldn’t be possible without the stallwart veteran Krishna and the newcomer Little dominating the trenches. Perhaps the biggest shock is the defensive play. We knew we had stars in the secondary, but our midseason signings on the DL have shored up a leaky run defense, and our linebackers have developed into a force that requires gameplanning for.
I think what we need to do is maintain consistency and not be afraid to air it out in the playoffs. Star your studs, and give them reps. I am confident that the new guys will fill in any gaps and lead us to a Ultimini.
