29) Some positions are still under appreciated. Talk about the offensive linemen and/or special teamers on your squad. Show how they have contributed to the team, both on and off the field, and why they deserve recognition.
I think it's important to understand the importance of Special Teams and players who play on special teams. Let's look at the Tijuana Luchadores this season. NationalSimulation FootballLeague was their main returner and was able to net an avg of just over 20 yards per return. This means on avg they were able to make up 20 yard per stop of their defense. This is a huge swing of the field. The best return happens when a player breaks free, with NationalSimulation was able to do at least once for a total of 94 yards. This is also seen on the other side, when you look at punters and efficiency. Some punters in the league were about to push 4000 yards in the other teams direction. When you take players into account like Maximus on Minnesota, who was able to pin opponents inside their own 20 a total of 15 times, that is really impressive. That could easily change the momentum of a game or a season. If you take kickers into account, which can amass the most points in the league, you can really see the advantage to having a good special teams unit can be. Though these numbers can be a bit skewed in bad teams perspectives, because of a lack of offense. I generally think a good special teams is like a good defense.
"11) History is not always kind to the losers. Tell the story of a team who you view as an all-time great but who did not win the title game. Why was that team so dominant? What were the major focal points of their offense and defense, and who were the star players? What makes them so special? What was the reason that they ultimately fell short of immortal greatness?"
The Colorado Yeti in Season 24 and 25 were really good teams. They were maybe not an all-time great team, but they were consistently the best team in the league over those two years. In two seasons they amassed 27 wins and only 5 losses in the regular season. They were led by their strong offensive and an impressively solid defense. In Season 24 Wolfie McDummy had an MVP season, tossing 4002 yards and 31 touchdowns. This was a really impressive feat and led the Colorado Yeti to a strong 14-2 record. Their rushing attack was unmatched as well, boasting the best in the league and conference. This was only coupled by a stalwart defense which was in the top 2-4 for all defensive categories. The Colorado Yeti screamed into the playoffs this season, defeating their last 9 opponents, with the only close game being against an okay New Orleans Second Line team. They were the odds on favorites to win the Cup. However, they still had the playoffs to contend with. They squeaked by the Wraiths in the first round, needing overtime to win, this should have been foreshadowing enough for the Yeti, but then won a close one against the second best team in the league in the Sarasota Sailfish. This saw them facing the San Jose Sabercats, who were able to upset them in the, making the Colorado Yeti's goals cut short.
Alas, they had another chance at redemption in Season 25. Bringing back most of their stars, including an aging McDummy, they were poised to make a run at the cup. This time with Gilbert in the backfield for them, they were missing a strong running game like the previous season. This made them rely heavily on McDummy, who excelled even more with the spotlight. He was able to get 4,383 yards in the air. Making the Colorado Yeti, the most lethal air team in the league. However, their defense also slid a little, losing some key members to expansion. This didn't stop them as they went on to rattle off a 13-3 regular season record. A much easier route to the finals this year as they stomped teams in the playoffs. They then saw their nemesis the San Jose Sabercats in the finals. This was a worst case, as they were again stopped in their tracks by San Jose.
The Colorado Yeti during this time period could be seen as the best team to not win, but the Sabercats just have their number it seems.
