I joined the ISFL in February 17, 2020. That day was the S22 r/nfl recruitment day, otherwise known as the most hectic day in ISFL history in its 25 season history up to this point. I doubted that I would be a very active participant in this league while I was going through the approval process with bagel (it took 3 tries- sorry bagel) since everything seemed so complicated.
A few days later, I was still struggling with my rookie tasks, and decided to make a discord account to get some help. Then,a dude named inverted DMd me, and started to ask me a series of questions. Along with that, he offered to get me some help with wiki task which confused me to hell and back, and gave me an invite to the Birddogs server, which had a ton of other S22 prospects, such as Quirkyturtle, xaq and edd, who were mostly very pleasant company. The Birddogs server changed me from someone who was planning to be a casual user to a full on max earner, gunning for highest draft position as possible.
I watched the DSFL draft with anticipation, and was so happy when my player was selected by the Birddogs in the 6th round with the 46th overall pick. While the draft position wasn't as high as I secretly hoped, being the 5th wide receiver to be selected, but I knew that was about the best I could do as a lesser known rookie, and was mostly relieved and happy that my number 1 draft destination selected me. I still remember the warm welcome I received when I entered the dog house channel for the first time, and Gucci's comment that I was 'one of his favorite prospects on the draft'.
Stat wise, my season with the Birddogs was rather pedestrian. 595 yards, and a single touchdown which came very late into the season. But stat was not the most important thing that I gained during that season. I started to write league related media, gained recognition as one of the class's top WR, and most importantly gained friends, quite a few of them at that. I went from a confused rookie who didn't even knew how to update, to a somewhat experienced user who wanted to participate more to the community in a season.
ISFL scouting experience was a whole new world to me. Every team except Philly scouted me, and two teams even scouted me twice. I was being mocked as a top WR prospect, sometimes even mocked in the 1st round. I never imagined that will happen when I first joined. And neither did I imagine that I will become a user and a player that I am now, some 9 irl months later. This ISFL community had been one of the biggest sources of my happiness during that period, and I'm truly thankful for everyone for that. (486)
