With the draft today I wanted to shed some light and get you caught up on some of the players who will be hearing their name called tonight. Please note that TPE and Activity wasnt what i really based these off of. These rankings are based off of the players stats of this past DSFL season. TPE and activity were maybe 25% of determining these.
Quarterback:
1. LeBron James III - Portland Pythons 240/403 2214 Yards 13 TD's 12 INT's
2. Ryan Negs - Minnesota Grey Ducks 251/472 2477 Yards 13 TD's 13 INTS
3. Emi Rune - Norfolk Seawolves 186/335 1788 Yards 4 TD's 7 INT's
First let's look at the QB's, The ISFL is weird when it comes to the most important position in Football. Theres only 14 jobs available and teams plan out their future here long on advance. No team is in desperate need of a QB. The closest would be the Philadelphia Liberty. Brock Pheonix is in the middle of regression and is nearing retirement so they could look to replace him eventually in this draft. Now let's look at the prospects. James III and Negs are duking it out for the top spot, they posted near identical numbers while Emi Rune played on a very run heavy team. Between the 2 my guess would be Ryan Negs being selected off the board around the 2nd round. Lebron James III is a going to be a great late 2nd round pick up for a team. Emi Rune will be a later 3rd/4th round pick.
Runningback:
1. Cobra Kai - Dallas Birddogs 278 Attempts 1482 Yards 8 TD's
2. Mr. Forty-Two - Norfolk Seawolves 423 Attempts 1638 Yards 8 TD's
3. Akil Ozymandias - Myrtle Beach 230 attempts 1106 Yards 7 TD's
Cobra Kai is the top offensive prospect in this draft. However, not enough people are talking about the #2 RB in this draft. Mr.Forty-Two was an every down word horse RB for the Norfolk Seawolves. He ran the ball 200 times more than Kai and finished roughly 150 yards ahead. Cobra Kai is a potential 1st overall pick and he showed why in Dallas. Averaging 5.3 yards a carry and tacked on 8 TD's, Kai could be a potential day 1 started. The 3rd RB on this list is Ozymandias out of Myrtle Beach. Ozymandias rushed 230 times for 1106 yards and has quietly become an intriguing prospect. Unlikely to start in his first seasons Ozymandias could be set for a potential big S26 in the DSFL. Kai and Forty-Two are both 1st round picks while a team will get a steal in Ozymandias in the 3rd round.
Wide Receiver:
1. Mario Messi - Portland Pythons 88 Catches 886 Yards 8 TD's
2. Tugg Speedman - London Royals 73 Catches 841 Yards 4 TD's
3. Quavious McGrady - Tijuana Luchadores 72 Catches 833 yards 3 TD's
In a run heavy DSFL league these 3 prospects were able to put up big numbers. Messi finished 2nd in the league in receiving Yards, he has tremendous hands and can make defenders miss. Messi is also a big Red Zone Threat as he notched 8 TD's this season. Messi has 1st round talent and should be going in the 1st of the draft. Not far behind Messi is Speedman and McGrady. Both of these guys put up near identical stats this season and are a mirror of each others talents. The WR depth in this draft is pretty solid so I could see both these guys go late 1st early 2nd round.
Tight End:
1. Jaja Ding Dong - Minnesota Grey Ducks 64 Catches 511 Yards 2 TD 34 pancakes
2. Tom Teboat - Norfolk Seawolves 23 catches 191 Yards 20 pancakes
3. Owmy Back - Kansas City Coyotes 26 134 yards 4 TD's 15 pancakes
Theres 2 types of TE's, Ones that are too small to play OL and ones that are too big to play WR. Ding Dong is one of the rare ones that can both block and be a serious pass catcher. He is clearly the top TE in this draft and is going to be a 2nd round pick. Next we have Teboat, Teboat was a phenomenal run blocker for the Seawolves this passed season while also being a short yardage receiving target. Teboat is going to fall into the 3rd round but Wherever he goes is getting a top end TE who will be a long starter. Back showed he was a red zone threat in KC nabbing 4 TD's which is the most between these 3. Back will also be a 3rd round pick.
Offensive Line
1. Richard Littlewood - Myrtle Beach 48 Pancakes 1 Sack allowed
2. Alexander Franklin - Minnesota 47 Pancakes 1 Sack Allowed
3. Maiteers Rico-Shea - Tijuana Luchadores 32 Pancakes 3 sacks allowed
FAIR RUBS!!!! The Fair Rubs club has grown quite a bit the last few seasons and is stronger than ever. Every team needs and wants OL. In my honest opinion Richard Littlewood (hehe) is gling to be the first OL off the board. He has a slight edge over Franklin who will be drafted shortly after Littlewood. Littlewood is a 1st round pick while Franklin could go late in the 1st to early 2nd round. Rico-Shea is a mid-late 3rd round pick, could slip to the 4th.
Defensive End
1. Ernest Lover - London Royals 75 Tackles 11 TFL 1 FF 8 sacks
2. Makoto Otawara - Minnesota 64 Tackles 9 TFL 1 FF 6 Sacks
3. Byakuya Togami - Myrtle Beach 30 Tackles 15 TFL 1 FR 2 Sacks
Ernest Lover is a top 3 pick in this draft. The DE is very balanced in stopping the run while also getting to the passer. Lover Tallied 75 Tackles while getting to the QB 8 times. Otawara is a DE who loves to have his hand in the dirt and stop the run. Otawara is a guy who can line up on the outside as a rusher but can also be moved inside to help stop the run. With 64 tackles and 6 sacks, Otawara was a big piece of a dominate Minnesota Defense. Togami, much like Otawara, loves his hand in the dirt and stopping the run. With a tremendous 15 TFL's, Togami really showcased his skils as a top end run stopper. Otawara is a mid 2nd Rounder while Togami is a late 2nd early 3rd round pick.
Defensive Tackle
1. Readbeard Mcfredbeard - Kansas City 37 Tackles 1 TFL 1 sack
2. Primo Berto - Dallas Birddogs 42 tackles 19 TFL 7 sacks
3. Ben Siegl - London Royals 5 tackles 3 tfl
Well if you're an ISFL team I hope you don't need a DT... Mcfredbeard and Berto are the only 2 prospects for the ISFL in this draft. Mcfredbeard was heavily double teamed so his stats are a bit smaller than what the talent shows. Berto had a big season. 19 TFL and 7 sacks really stand out on paper but what isn't shown is the timing of those plays. Berto made big plays when they really mattered for the Dallas Defense. Both Mcfredbeard and Berto are 2nd round picks while Siegl will go around the 4th or 5th round.
Linebackers:
1. BamBam Mcmullet - Tijuana 97 Tackles 2 TFL 4 sacks 2 INTS 3 PD
2. Leonard Taylor - Myrtle Beach 108 Tackles 1FF 1FR 1 INT 2PD
3. Vincent Jones - Tijuana 110 tackles 2 TFL 1FF 1FR 9 sacks 1 INT 8 PD
Holy LB's.... I almost guarantee all 3 of these guys will have unbelievable careers. Any one of these guys could be a 1st overall pick while I could see any one of them fall late to the 1st. Theres not a lot of LB spots that are open so thats the only reason for any drop off. Mcmullet leads the way after turning a phenomenal season with Tijuana tallying 97 tackles. Leonard Taylor more so made his living off the passing game dropping into coverage and running down ball carriers. Jones is the one who can do it all. 9 sacks with 8 PD and 110 tackles. Jones did it all for the Tijuana defense and can carry that to the ISFL. My projection is any 1 of these 3 will be 1st overall lick, while the other 2 fall in the draft, However expect all 3 to be 1st round picks.
Secondary (CB and Safety)
1. Moe Skeeter - Portland 67 Tackles 1 TFL 1 FR 4 INTS 4 PD 4 Sacks 2 TD's
2. Dogwood Maple - Norfolk Seawolves 84 Tackles 6 Sacks
3. Derek Wildstar - Kansas City 62 tackles 1 TFL 1 Sack 1 PD
So for this I grouped CB and Safeties together as the CB pool is next to nothing and the weakest part of this draft. Moe Skeeter is the prototypical Safety that will flourish in the ISFL. Skeeter can line up at CB, Safety as well as a Nickle LB, he can do it all. Dogwood Maple didn't have statistically the best seaosn but its more so his off field work that makes him a top tier prospect. Playing for a league worse team in Norfolk, Maple made plays on the Defence while being a shut down coverage guy. Much like Maple, Wildstar is the same type of player. Shutdown in coverage while making okays on the run game. Skeeter and Maple are both top 5 draft picks while Wildstar is a mid 1st rounder.
Quarterback:
1. LeBron James III - Portland Pythons 240/403 2214 Yards 13 TD's 12 INT's
2. Ryan Negs - Minnesota Grey Ducks 251/472 2477 Yards 13 TD's 13 INTS
