My team is too inconsistent and my player too boring to talk about at this point, so let’s talk about my DSFL team, the London Royals.
As I write this, the Royals are sat at 0-1. I say they’re going to the Ultimini again.
I don’t count that Portland loss. London outgained the Pythons on the ground and through the air, and had more first downs. Let’s just write that one off.
London get to the Ultimini. The last two years in a row they’ve steamrolled their way to the big game. They’ll do it again.
Does this current Royals squad have the same level of talent as the S25 DSFL Championship squad that had 6 top-8 ISFL draft picks? That remains to be seen, but the secret sauce in London has never been the talent. It’s the coaching and the culture.
Looking at the team, they returned a host of offensive talent, and have a veteran secondary with five Ultimini appearances between them. They remember the pain of being upset last year by a subpar Luchadores team, and will do everything they can to put it right.
To top it off, they got another quarterback. “But wait,” I hear you cry, “isn’t Charlemagne Cortez their quarterback?” Yes, yes he is, but you know what’s better than having a quarterback? Having two. That’s just simple mathematics.
To conclude, London will win everything this season and other teams shouldn’t even try.
