Berlin Fire Salamanders the worst defense ever?
Being in their second season as an ISFL franchise you would expect some improvement over their previous season. That hasn't been the case so far for the Fire Salamanders. They have started the season going 0-5.
San Jose SaberCats hold the record for the most points given up in a season with 553, this was when the ISFL was playing 14 games per a season. 39.5 points per a game.
Berlin is currently on pace to give up 566 points this season, 35 points per a game. Granted they are 5 points per a game off of setting the mark for the worst points oer a game but none the less, giving up the most points ever in a season isn't something you want to be known for.
The Fire Salamanders focused their first round draft picks on defense and it obviously was a priority for them but it hasn't translated on the field. Having the top pick in the draft the last two seasons you would expect your defense to play better than it has.
Their lack of pass rush has been their Achilles heel. They are averaging 1 sack per a game. This coupled with a below average running game and poor QB play there defense has been stuck on the field for a long time.
They need to drastically change somthing or they will set the mark for the worst defense.
