Big Slammu, highly recruited high school recruit is having a rough go of it 7 games into his ISFL career. Shouts of the word “bust” are ringing through the crowd as the half-man half-shark beast has been anything but in the highest level of the game. Touted as the next great linebacker and ultimately, a future hall of famer, he has been stuck as a rotation defensive tackle in a 3-4 nickel scheme. This isn’t ideal for his production as that has lowered the amount of opportunities he’s had to rush the passer. While being fearsome and intimidating, he simply is the lightest individual on the defensive line and as a result, he is easily getting bullied off the line of scrimmage by the numerous 300 lb offensive lineman in the game. He will have to reevaluate his pass rushing technique because bull rushing on every down is simply not good enough in the international simulation football league. He will have to work on hand technique to use his elusiveness and speed to get into the backfield. While it has been a discouraging start, Big Slammu still has a couple years to develop and shape his game to fit into the ISFL. It’s hard to remember that he went pro immediately after graduating high school. The case of Big Slammu may be a question of experience as opposed to ability.
