With a knock on the door Jimi DeSoto sprung to his feet. The excitement of Christmas made any package a thrilling event, but this one was unexpected, especially the size. He opened the door to a monstrous mass of wrapping paper surrounding an object about 350 feet long and about 5 stories high. DeSoto shrugged his shoulders and got to work. After a week without sleep, food, or water, the final piece of wrapping paper was taken off, and the gift could be appreciated. It was, of course, a Seawolf-class submarine, the destructive nuclear-powered submarine that is the namesake of the Seawolves mascot! This one was a customized model of course, with “DeSoto” written on the side and his face plastered onto the front of the machine. A tag at the top stated “From your good Seawolf friends, Rusty Rucker, Xmus Flaxon Jaxon-Waxon, and Ananda Adyan! We all pitched in!” How sweet and thoughtful of them! Upon opening the hatch and exploring the submarine, an even greater surprise awaited. Deep within the submarine, while exploring its empty caverns, a small light appeared in the distance. DeSoto approached it slowly, wondering if he was dying. As he got nearer, he noticed the familiar faces of his friends gathered around a poker table. “We’ve been waiting for you pal” said Rusty Rucker, wearing only his signature kilt. “Merry Christmas!” DeSoto smiled as he was dealt his hand.
