(S26) - PT 4 - It could be a bowling alley!

[Memento Mori]

The package is big. Inside are several items, it appears to be a whole new set of football equipment. Brandon Booker decides to try on his new equipment at the next Orange County otters practice, but something seems wrong. As soon as he puts his helmet on everything seems much darker than usual, but he dismissed it as just him adjusting to a new visor. Stepping out onto the field he found it difficult to track his receiver and to locate the football, but the alarm bells weren’t ringing in Booker’s head quite yet.

The second indication that something was wrong came the first time that Booker tried to cut. Booker was matched up with Owen Holloway, who made a move to the outside that required Booker to match it and cut outside himself. His cleat got caught in the turf, and after the play he noticed that one of his studs had almost come clean out of the sole. These cleats were definitely worse than his usual ones.

Maybe two mishaps could be dismissed as a coincidence, but three surely couldn’t. In a style befitting his performances during Season 26, starting quarterback Suleiman Ramza threw a late pass to the flat. Booker broke on the route, and thought he had an easy interception that he would’ve returned for a touchdown. Instead, the ball sprung off the gloves of the usually sure-handed defensive back.

At this point, Booker began to wonder if someone had played some sort of prank or tried to sabotage him. He began asking his teammates if they’d sent him a package recently. They all denied it. Confused, as soon as he got home he dug the the package out of the trash. The stamp was still attached, bearing the name of the state where the package had been sent. It had come from Texas.

Suddenly, everything made sense. With the Austin Copperheads and Orange County Otters both 8-4 and battling for the first seed in the ASFC, either a player or GM of the Copperheads had tried to sabotage the Otters #1 corner. Booker shook his head, laughed it off, and turned his attention to Week 13.
