Mason Gillion got a random package from an unknown sender. When opening up the package it was a picture of Gillion on the bench during the DSFL playoffs in his first season. Attached was a stat sheet from that game. 0 snaps played. Along with that was a note staying the following "from the bench in the playoffs to DSFL probowl CB/FS and Ultimini Champion." Further down on the not was a quote from Gillion from one of his interviews "I felt useless on the bench during the playoffs and I couldn't help my team win. I'll make sure that they can't afford to keep me on the bench next season."
Gillion went from Nickle cornerback to Starting Free safety and nickel cornerback. He never left the field on defense and he made the probowl.
In Gillions first year in the ISFL he hasn't made the impact he would have liked. He was the 3rd cornerback on the depth chart and is the primary nickel cornerback. He has had an OK rookies season, wasn't expected to be a starter but nonetheless he isn't happy with his lack of production. Much like his first season in the DSFL, he wanted to make more of an impact in his ISFL debut. The picture that he recieved was a very good reminder that hard work in the off season pays dividends in the regular season. Whoever sent the picture and note to Gillions knew exactly what he needed to motivate himself to be much better next season and be ready to make an impact.
