As with most hobbies that eventually have to evolve and change, I expect there to naturally be disgruntlement with the new changes as well as some attrition. People love doing the same stuff over and over again. This seems especially true with us nerds. People like to ‘solve’ the games we play and discover the most efficient way to beat it or gain the advantage over other players. This is exemplified in how the 2016 version of the sim was decompiled. Players literally picked apart the program’s code to find what was most advantageous to them. So, what does this mean for 2021? This season is going to probably be anyone’s game. No one knows which traits or archetypes are the best and people are already heating up the media pages with their breakdowns and analyses while they try to prematurely solve all the puzzles. In the end, I believe that the teams who will have the best performances will be the ones with the most effective communication with their players. This will be a difficult transition. The more knowledgeable players are of their skill requirements and what is needed, the easier it’ll be to start setting new career goals. Teams with shaky mentoring will struggle, while teams with the smoothest transitions will most likely succeed and maybe even win the ultimus.
