It's pretty crazy that as we enter 2021, this will be my third year in the league after joining in 2019. 2020 saw lots of great changes for the league, especially massive growth in the user base that will ensure the league is healthy for a long time to come. One byproduct of this massive change is that players started to blur together as more and more higher TPE earners entered, to the point where many awards and individual distinctions seem like a crapshoot. My hope is that the transition to the new sim counteracts this to some degree by creating more differentiation between players via the new archetypes. I don't know if this will happen or not, but the new traits and TPE scale will hopefully let players create more uniqueness for their individual player that will show up on the stat sheet. Hopefully this also trickles down to team building and management strategies as well, so General Managers have to consider not only position and TPE but also how a player's archetype fits into their scheme when drafting or signing free agents. In an ideal world, I could see this creating more player movement between teams as players seek the role that will give their particular player the best chance of success. Will this pan out? We can only wait and find out. Either way, here's to another great year of the ISFL!
