I think the biggest change for the league coming in 2021 is naturally the transition to the new sim. With the current sim having been used for years now, most of the meta has already been figured out. It’s especially clear within certain positions, particularly running back and quarterback that certain archetypes are just objectively better than the others (speed for running back and game manager with 79 speed cheese for quarterbacks respectively). I think the most exciting thing that we’ll see when transitioning into the new sim and the new year is more diversity in builds and archetypes in the league going forward. Especially with the upcoming Reddit draft, which will bring in a huge chunk of new users with no preconceptions of the sim who are open to playing anything other than a speed dump. As a running back myself, I’m especially looking forward to what is being promised as a sort of homecoming for power running backs. I’ve been playing power since starting here in the league, despite it not being the “optimal” archetype just because that is what I wanted to play. It’s honestly been a little bit of a drag knowing that despite my earning I’m objectively worse than people who made the “correct” choice, but I’m looking forward to seeing if the new positional archetypes are as balanced as they are being advertised.
