8) Write a short biography or story about your player. This could include background about how they came to the ISFL and how they’ve done so far, a story about their role in an exciting game, or anything else related to their experience in the league.
Glenn Smart was born in London, England to a teacher and a former professional rugby player, who installed a strong work ethic in him from a young age. Whether it was in the classroom or on the field, maximum effort wasn’t just the benchmark, it was the minimum requirement. After excelling within the sport of rugby at the youth level, just as his father did, Glenn turned his attention to “American Football” shortly after seeing the London Blitz training on an adjacent field to his team.
While Glenn initially started out as a defensive back, usually lining up in the strong safety position, a sudden burst of growth and weight gain during his teenage years led to his position being switched to defensive end — and occasionally outside linebacker, as the team experimented with a 3-4 formation. He would also occasionally line up on the offensive line. With Glenn hitting 6ft and 220lb at the age of 14, his ability to physically dominate the opposition was frequently exploited by his coaches and allowed him to become one of the de facto elite pass rushers in the UK at a youth level, while also being reliable across the offensive line as needed.
Due to the low level of competition available to him and the relatively poor standards of coaching within the UK, Smart remained a very raw talent that was stacking up the stats every game. He would frequently sack the quarterback 6 or 7 times a game, ending his final season in the UK with 53 sacks, 192 tackles, 67 tackles for loss and 14 forced fumbles. Despite the low level of competition, the stats alone garnered some attention from the United States. Do due UK students leaving high school at a lower age than that of their state-side counterparts, Glenn was available to go to college at the age of 16.
Smart would end up at Texas A&M, where he was redshirted in his first year. His coaches cited the need for Smart to refine his technique and add mass in the weight room, should he want to be truly competitive at the college level. It would take him a couple of years to get to grips with the high standard of play he was now faced with, however he did eventually reach his potential — recording 7 stacks from 13 starts in his junior year, followed by an impressive 16.5 sacks from 13 games as a senior.
With college now behind him, Glenn has declared for the upcoming DSFL draft, after which he will, once again, have to adapt to the higher standard of play all over again.

This would simply have to be tea. In Boston. At the harbor. Imagine the visual feast of a 6’3, 270lb man sitting on an apartment balcony overlooking Boston Harbor, sipping a cup of tea — pinky raised… the whole 9 yards. The campaign would have to be humorous and could be extended to many other things, referencing the colourful history between the UK and the USA. For example, Glenn could also be seen sitting at a table, sipping tea (again, pinkie finger raised) with a body of water behind him. As the camera pans out, the table would be on a boat. The body of water in the background would be revealed to be the Potomac river. The destination would be Washington DC. A cheeky grin at the camera and we’re done. Never a word spoken. Let the cinematics tell the story.
The brand of tea would need to be something high end, like TWG, Tea Forte or Jade Leaf Matcha. Naturally, Glenn would need to be in a 3 piece suit. Maybe something made of tweed with a Union Jack tie, for that classical British look. I’m not entirely sure the campaign would be successful but it would make me infinitely happy.
