The problem is, these are based on overall ratings, not activity, which is a much better predictor of draft position. For example, Rich Gucci had a higher overall rating than me at the time of the draft, but you'd never draft an inactive at a position of low need, in the first three rounds.

Absolutely a valid point, but at this stage, there is a direct correlation between activity and overall. More activity = more TPE = higher overall (generally speaking). Plus the overall ratings are from the most current update, not at the time of the draft.
