Jake “Can’t Miss” Fencik should be Kicker of the Year. Some kickers have kicked more extra points, sure, but we can’t give an award just because other teams are scoring more touchdowns. However, every extra point attempted by Fencik has been made. What’s it matter of someone kicked 10 more? They’re chip shots anyway. You shouldn’t be rewarded for making them, just chastised for missing them. So let’s move our eyes to the REAL value, field goals. Fencik has attempted the most field goals in the league and he has only missed one. No kicker has been perfect this season, meaning that Fencik has the highest field goal percentage in the league. Let’s look at the distance though, shall we? Fencik is three for three on the easiest ones, 29 yards and under. If you look at the other kickers, soe have kicked 7 or 8 kicks from this distance, severely inflating their stats. Fencik is five for five on kicks within the 30-39 yards, but then we start to see where the money gets made. The team has asked him to attempt a remarkable THIRTEEN kicks from 40-49 yards. Now this is no easy feat, but Fencik has only missed one. He simply brings Philly points when we need them at an area of the field where he produces the most effectively. Oh, and he’s also a PERFECT four for four (is this a wendy’s?) from kicks above 50 yards. That’s a kicker of the year right there folks.
