Prior to the season I had made predictions for awards outside of MVP during my joint podcast with Pat. This is a great PT to check in on my predictions:
Offensive Player of the Year – Raphtalia Chan – RB – Sarasota Sailfish
He is currently second in the league in rushing with 1,081 yards and in a three way tie for Rushing TDs at 12. He also has 145 yards receiving with 2 TDs. At this rate we’re looking at 1700+ all purpose yards with 20ish TDs. I think this was a great pre-season prediction.
Defensive Player of the Year - Immanuel Blackstone – DE – Colorado Yeti
I thought Blackstone would tear it up this season but he hasn’t been setting the league on fire. He has a respectable 5 sacks and 7 tackles for loss but unless he turns it on the last part of the season he probably won’t even be in contention for DE of the year.
Offensive Rookie of the Year – James Wilkinson – TE – New York Silverbacks
The receiving yards for a rookie TE aren’t bad at 385 but he has only 1 TD so far this season but he has a very impressive 23 pancakes with 0 sacks allowed. He might have a decent chance to get nominate but I don’t see him taking home the award.
Defensive Rookie of the Year – Wasrabi Gleel – LB – Chicago Butchers
Gleel is having a great rookie season with 57 tackles, 3 TFL, 3 FF with 4 FR and 4 sacks. He is definitely up there for DROY and could get the nod if he finishes out the season with some good stats.
I have a good shot at getting 2 awards right with OPOY and DROY. I’ll take that going into a season with a new sim.
