If only this PT had been posted a month or so ago, oh how I would rave about how Rich Triplet became one of the best CBs in the league seemingly overnight. Starting the season top 3 in PDs, top 5 at his position for tackles and tied for first with INTs made it seem like he could not only start to make his way into breakout player of the year award race, but also into cornerback of the year conversation. Alas Rich has fallen off since his breakout game against the New York Silverbacks. But there are two other corners I want to talk about today at the developmental level that I think are both in a close race for CBOTY, not only are they head-to-head for the award, but they also happen to be teammates. I of course am referring to the Tijuana Luchadores’ cornerback duo of Buck Nekkid and Juno Ho. The duo has almost identical statlines, while this is Buck’s first send down season in Tijuana Juno is a full-fledged rookie. The duo both have 4 interceptions and a defensive touchdown to go with those, Juno has forced one fumble while Buck has forced two, they are only 4 PDs apart with Buck leading Juno with 19, finally both have a solid number of tackles, with Buck leading in that category as well. Looking at the stats right now it’s fair to say that Buck should take the award but there is a lot of time left in the season for Juno to hop ahead his senior and snag it for himself. Either way they both deserve some recognition for their performance on the field for Tijuana this season.
