It's really hard to say who's going to be MVP this year. It's going to be either a quarterback or a running back, and while that may seem obvious, the quarterbacks this year are balling out.
Here's my ranking for the best QBs:
1. Ben Slothlisberger - first in yards (3375), second in QB rating (102.3, just behind George O'Donnell at 102.4), second in touchdowns (23), and the lowest interceptions among all quarterbacks with 4. A very efficient and prolific season for a highly-touted quarterback since his days in the DSFL. Slothlisberger is the poster child for patience with quarterbacks. The reason he would lose this race is his team's mediocre record, which is a shame because he's lights out this year.
2. Luke Skywalker - first in touchdowns (25), fourth in QB rating (100.2), and second in completion percentage (68.5) while being third in the league in completions. This high rate of usage while keeping turnovers low paired with Honolulu's first season of real relevance keeps the race with Slothlisberger a toss-up.
3. George O'Donnell - Hear me out on what seems like a homer pick to the average fan. While O'Donnell has the fourth-least yards, and the least amount of completions and attempts, he leads the league in passer rating (102.4) is fourth in touchdown passes (20) and has low interception numbers. The big things going for Georgio-O is the fact he has several game-winning drives, he could give Chicago their first first-seed in possibly franchise history, his TD percentage vs. interception (6% - 1.8%) and when he does throw the ball, he heaves it (12 completions of 40+ yards.) His average yards per completion is over 13.
I'd break down the RBs as well, but I've already hit my word count by a lot and there's only two RBs that could round out the top five on my list.
Tatsu Nakamura (first in yards, T-1 touchdowns, and first in YPC among running backs with 100+ carries.)
Raphtalia Chan (second in yards, T-1 touchdowns, 5th in YPC among qualifying running backs, and very much the catalyst for a playoff-bound team.)
How do I think the votes would break down on this list?
1. Slothlisberger
2. Skywalker
3. Nakamura
4. O'Donnell
5. Chan
