It is told that an ambitious Arkansas production company has approached Dallas Birddogs DT Beefcake Johnson for a new mini-documentary called "Beefcake at Baseball-what could have been?" discussing the 330-pounders past as a first baseman in high school, and, mainly, how his trajectory may or may not have been as a pro baseball player. Johnson still holds his high school record for home runs but cited a lack of speed and fielding skills as the main reasons for choosing football. Does he, and do his peers at the time, think he would have had a shot regardless? Or does he even regret his career decision a bit? Stay tuned.
"A D-Tackle playing baseball? We know it sounds ridiculous now, but we believe Johnson truly had the potential to be a force not unlike Frank Thomas. It's not that he was just super strong, his plate skills were quite good for a high school kid as well", the documentary's producer says. "As a Little Rock native, I was actually following his play and was crushed when I learned about his decision to play football". One major theme of the documentary will be Johnson's size, as he describes himself as "just heavy-boned" and "a Beefcake for a reason", while it is believed he could have achieved baseball shape (well, at least first baseman/designated hitter shape) by proper training. The documentary will show critics of the idea of Johnson playing baseball as well, such as Johnson's former football coach and his parents.
