I can see less than ten players in the DSFL being called up after one season and only 2-3 being called up immediately. There are probably 20-25 that will be called up after two seasons of being down. Some are looking at potentially 3 seasons of send down. This is not because of salary cap, but because the players ahead of them are all too high TPE to be replaced. This is causing some older users to retire early and cut short their careers, in some cases Hall of Fame careers, and younger users to be called up just for there to be a spot for them to play on the team that drafted them. This also often causes the team to lose roughly 300-400 TPE at that position until that younger player can develop. But now the younger player has missed two seasons of the beginning of his career, and will likely miss two or three seasons at the end of his career because he will have to do the same thing that the older player once did to him. Now this is not going to be every draftee. But it will be the majority at this stage unless something is done.

Wow, it’s worse than I thought. I’ve been wondering if we need to change the regression scale given that people are playing fewer ISFL seasons - due to more time being sent down - so that users get more out of their ISFL careers once they make it up there. But that’ll mean that players spend even more time in the DSFL if there’s not another bigger offsetting measure applied at the same time.

The DSFL culture is nice and fun for a season, but the gameplay in the new sim is unbearable for the DSFL. Hopefully the penalty change will help..

Yeah. I remember reading a QB’s media piece (Cue’s?) about how the DSFL got boring by the second or third season, and those long DSFL careers are becoming the norm for everyone, not just QBs.

On potentially losing DSFL teams: I do think contraction is possible if we expand the ISFL, at the moment we’re seeing some teams fall to 5-7 actives pre-draft if they get particularly hurt by call-ups one offseason. That number could drop with more roster spots in the ISFL. I think it’s a legitimate concern. But if the trade off for potentially losing 2 DSFL teams is less time spent in the DSFL for the average user, more ISFL roster spots, better retention, etc., I’m taking that risk every time.
