I don’t mean to toot my own horn but Remus Roman had easily the biggest highlight of the season. Without a doubt the greatest running back performance in the DSFL happened several weeks ago against the Kansas City Coyotes where he ran for 269 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 5 carries – easily crushing the existing single yard record in the DSFL... A record that Portland Pythons General Manager Southpaw refers to as “Untouchable.” Remus Roman’s performance that night is even more impressive considering just how necessary it was to that victory – without his impressive, huge runs, Portland may have lost that game. Portland won the game 24-21, with Remus being responsible for 21 of those points on his own (with the assistance of a fantastic offensive line, Roman adds himself). Roman quite literally carried his entire team to victory, having 4 runs of 39 yards or more, 3 of which resulted in touchdowns. The victory was the cherry on top of Roman’s performance that night. Though Kansas City would later get revenge in the playoffs against Portland, Roman would again show up, scampering for over 150 yards throughout the night.
Roman’s consistency in the latter half of the season earned him DSFL recognition for player of the match twice (possibly a third when the playoff Player of the Game awards are presented), and significant consideration for DSFL rookie of the year.
