As I was a GM with my last draft, there wasn't much to talk about there. I went in the second round to New Orleans as was prewritten due to the nature of the rules. For that reason, instead I'll talk about this last draft Colorado had. I was heavily involved with it due to being in the war room and was quite excited for it. In Colorado we make a bunch of splashes in free agency, which grants us a lot flexibility. In the past this has allowed us to trade up for players we specifically wanted and things like that. Unfortunately, this strategy has slowly led to our team getting older and as such we needed an influx of youth so that we knew our future was secure. Coming into this draft, I was led to believe it was a fairly weak one and I wasn't expecting much from it. I thought we might grab two active players at most and have to hope the next draft was larger to bring in young talent. As this draft progressed though, I found myself surprised. We grabbed Yeti alumni Duke in the first round. A max earning monster who was a critical war room member for us for a long time and we all loved. Then in the second we grabbed Alcott, a promising young rookie that many of our war room thought would be gone in the first. Then in the third we picked up Pazuzu. A long time sim league veteran that I thought for sure would go in the second because he's a great guy and as close to a sure thing as you can get. Then all the way in the fourth round, we grabbed Quail. She is a lovely user that Schwarz had been wanting to draft since the second. Four actives in a draft we thought was terrible, We felt like we'd just robbed the bank as we managed to reload our aging team with talent in a single draft. It makes us all look forward to the future of the Yeti.
