(S28) PT1 - Draft Day

Draft day was probably one of the most anxiety inducing and exciting times for me. As I had talked to only a few teams (apparently not many needed a kicker, or even wanted to see if I was open to swapping), the team I had jived with the most was the Colorado Yeti. It wasn’t just scouting by one person, but in fact I had had numerous conversations over numerous days with the current GMs, the future GMs and other members of the team. I wanted nothing more than to move to Colorado and become a Yeti. They were the future family I was hoping for.

As draft day neared, I started to grow more and more nervous. Had I done enough to make the Yeti want to pick me too? Did they feel the same? I wasn’t sure, but it seemed as though they were gearing up to get rid of me from the way they acted and talked in the chat. I didn’t know what to expect still, on draft day, and I’m not sure that I can really believe that it happened.

I can remember watching the draft stream, looking at all of the first round picks, believing it would be awhile before my name was called. Then, there it was. Colorado Yeti, pick 9. Pings went off in the locker room, Syl and Infinite were sharing the pieces they loved about me on the draft stream, and that was it. There is no greater feeling than knowing that the team you loved the most, loved you too. I couldn’t be more thrilled to still be a part of the Yeti.
