Since kya said she won’t appeal this, I think I can take an opportunity to speak my mind.
First of all, I think HO went too far, and at risk of splintering HO it seems that some of them agree. A fine (a hefty one even) and probation would probably suffice. Does kya deserve to be punished? Absolutely. I don’t think there was any malice involved (though I cannot say that without any reasonable doubt) but mistakes are mistakes. Especially when your mistakes benefit you as a user. But I think a firing is too far unless there’s clear evidence of corruption or collusion.
Secondly, let’s not say this was a waste of time on HO’s part. If people shouldn’t be getting TPE, they shouldn’t be getting it. Period. Lord knows how angry everyone would be if a team had 50 TPE they shouldn’t have. Heck, in my first few seasons the big scandal was @Bwestfield having illegal TPE from a regression miscommunication. People were absolutely furious, claiming OCO was circumventing rules to keep the dynasty alive at all costs. So save me this garbage about “oh HO is wasting time hunting for my TPEs”. The spreadsheet steg shared clearly shows some people got TPE for submitting predictions over 12 hours late. We can all agree that is unacceptable.
Next, we need to see a vote count. How many people voted termination, how many people voted fine, how many said do nothing, and how many abstained. I can think of at least two HO who should clearly have abstained, but so far there is only one who has confirmed they did (Mooty). If this was broken by 1 vote, then there is clearly a conflict of interest breaking the tie. That is very troubling to me. In my time as HO, we abstained if we felt we could not stay unbiased, or if it was clearly someone could not.
Finally, I think we all just need to take a deep breath as a community. I know this is a controversial decision that has rubbed everyone the wrong way. I think cooler heads should prevail. Credit to @Kyamprac for accepting blame and being honest and upfront, and not leading what seems to be an army ready to come to her defense. A lot of good users have left their jobs over this - I don’t think this is bad, because it is absolutely their right, but I worry about the long term health of the league if more users decide this is the end of their time here. Let’s put down the pitchforks and work through this. We all know what fun this league has brought us, and we all know what good the community can do when we come together. I hope all parties affected stay involved, because y’all are cool people in a cool community (most of the time), and I would really hate to see people leave.
