Miller is only just starting to play in his 3rd season and 1st season with the Hawks. Memories of the draft night are still fresh in his mind, and if they weren't, he would still sure as hell remember. Going into the S27 ISFL Draft, there was a ton of speculation that Miller was going 8th overall to the Yellowknife Wraiths. There were some who went as far as to say 5th overall, but Miller didn't see either of those happening.
Actually, he thought he would fall past there. There is worry about his development at this level, and he was never the most talented in the class. Although a good pick for the Pythons at 4th overall, Miller was no longer the best of his class after the first season in the DSFL. So when he went 2nd overall to the Hawks, it was surprising. Anticlimactic, actually, in a weird way.
There were two teams that did not scout Miller. One was the San Jose Sabercats. The other? The Baltimore Hawks. No contact at all. For a while, it seemed off, and some of the motivation was lost.
Now, it is a brand new team. Brand new management group, and one that has done well for other teams of the league. The rookies of the past couple of drafts are playing their rookie seasons, and look to be a threat in the future.
