If Bender was taken at any place other than 17th overall by the Otters, the trajectory of his career would be completely different. One of the main reasons he was picked at this spot was his willingness to change positions from TE to LB, which was a need of OCO. This also led to his immediate call up to the big league. So the first major change if Bender was drafted either a pick earlier or later is that he would still be playing TE. As much as I enjoyed the position, I realized that it is not a glorious one. I have come to enjoy watching Bender play as a LB much more. Could it be because he has now has a starting role? Probably has something to do with it. But it is great to see him go out and smash QBs. Especially Negs. That would be quite possibly the biggest thing I would miss if Bender never became a linebacker. Giving Negs the hit stick has been the highlight of my season so far. He didn't feed Bender the ball enough when they played together in Minnesota. And now Bender will make him pay for it for seasons to come.
