This week I'm looking at you, NOLA. In the S24 draft a young prospect named Adam Schell came into the league. He was relatively unknown, but you had a significant advantage. He was a Tijuana Luchadore (#LuchaForLife). One of the primary needs that season for NOLA was to add some young depth to the linebacker position, preferable ones who would be big time earners for many seasons to come. You had a front row seat to who I was: mithrandir who recruited me to the league was both a GM in Tijuana and a member of NOLA. Multiple other NOLA team members were hanging out in that locker room: Ben Slothlisberger, Ugarth the Dissector, Literally Just a Hexagon, many decision makers and big names in the NOLA universe. So, when NOLA traded up to the 5th pick of round 2, I thought I was about to hear my name called. Then, to my surprise, NOLA announced the pick of Busch Light - LB. I ended up going the next pick to Arizona, who traded me without playing a snap for them to Berlin, where I've happily been part of a ground up build of a kick ass organization. But I've got to wonder, and I think NOLA has to wonder too, what if they'd picked me instead of Busch? For one, I'm not gonna lie it'd have been really cool to play with mithrandir on the field. He's been my GM but never my teammate, and I hope someday we make that happen (though as Bengals vs Steelers fans I'm not sure how we'd learn to play nicely together...). But also, Busch Light, who tracked right with me for the first few seasons of our careers, has gone IA at 705 TPE while I've continued earning and am over 1050 TPE with another two full seasons before regression hits. Last season in particular, I have to wonder what an extra 300 TPE in the middle of the field could have done for the runner up Second Line...We'll never know, but the what if's are there, and I'm happy to prove those who didn't pick me wrong daily!
