When John Huntsman came into this league, he had one thing on his mind: pancakes. The support positions at Offensive Line are the foundations for a powerful offense. His main objective was to be that solid barrier between the opportunity for big plays at the skills positions and the top defenders preventing those big plays from developing.
Huntsman was drafted by the Minnesota Grey Ducks 28th overall as an offensive lineman. That same night, it became clear that the Minnesota Grey Duck’s front office had bigger plans for John Huntsman. Instead of opening up holes in the line for the Minnesota running game, the team needed Huntsman to carry the ball through those holes as a running back.
So the “what if?” here has to do with that position change. What if the position change never happened?
Huntsman thinks that his role on the team might not have been as supportive as he originally thought. He has developed into the current top spot for OROTY and averaging 5+ yards per carry.
The other “what if?” has to do with when the position change happened. What if John Huntsman came into the league as a power back? Would his draft stock have risen or dropped? Would he have gone to a different team and be split from his current locker room?
It is not great to dwell on “what if’s”. Especially because Huntsman believes he is at the right place in his career and has taken the correct path for him.
