Let's take a look at now Hall of Fame safety/linebacker Danny Grithead leaving the Orange County Otters and going to the Yellowknife Wraiths. While I would have a tough time selling that this free agency decision affected the entire team, it certainly affected Grithead's legacy and almost certainly cemented his place in the Hall. Before leaving the Otters for the great, white North, Grithead had two Ultimus championships to his name as well as one Defensive Back of the Year award and one Returner of the Year award. He was well on his way to being an all-time great defensive back, but that's not Hall of Fame level yet. Just wait until you see what Grithead did in a Wraiths uniform. His first season in Yellowknife he won the coveted Most Valuable Player award, recording twelve sacks, over twenty pass deflections, a career high ten interceptions, as well as scoring two defensive touchdowns. To follow up this outstanding season, he won a Defensive Player of the Year award and another DBotY award, and appeared in 4 straight Ultimus games. On top of this, his time in Yellowknife allowed him to set the ISFL all-time record for career tackles.
Danny Grithead left a team that had been, in ways, a dynasty since the league's inception, and in doing so, cemented his legacy as one of the best defensive backs ever.
