Okay, so head coach Shaun Smith at Portland High has just resigned, and Will "Brick Wall" Smyth is asked to coach? Okay, here goes. The Portland Aviators have struggled this season, everyone knows that. It played into HC Smith's resignation, and, while initially leery of coaching a team, Smyth decides to anyways. When he arrived at his old high school, Smyth immediately saw that the team was highly unorganized, having almost next to no equipment, training gear, or even proper uniforms. When asking the team, they said the school wanted to focus more on education than athletics, though most speculated it was because the principal hates football. So, Smyth went home that night, and designed a kickass uniform that he made himself, and used his money from the DSFL to buy equipment, hired a professional trainer, and went above and beyond. That week, at the homecoming game between the Aviators and their cross-town rivals, the Seabiscuits, the Aviators won a resounding victory in overtime, with a 23-17 victory, their first homecoming victory in seven years. Smyth was asked to stay on and coach the team, but wanted to focus on his career. The team understood, them wanting to play in the ISFL someday too, and Smyth promised that, once he retired, he would come back and coach the team.
